1. Installation/Uninstalling Procedure
To install the PCGrate-S(X) v. 6.2 software on a new computer you should run the
pcgrate.msi file from CD or the directory where pcgrate.msi is located. At first,
the installer offers you to read the license agreement. You have to accept the terms
of the license agreement to proceed with the installation. Then the installer shows
you a PCGrate-S(X) v.6.2 overview. At the next step the installer offers you to
choose the main PCGrate* 6.2 directory. During the installation, the executable
files PCGrate.exe, Solver.exe, BorderProfileEditor.exe and RIEditor.exe will be
placed automatically in this directory together with the dynamic link libraries
necessary for work. The program files, data files and examples related to the
console solving utilities will be placed into the Console Solver subdirectory of
the main PCGrate* 6.2 directory. The installer places the refractive index library
files (*.ri and *.ari) in the RefractiveIndices subdirectory and profile examples
in the BorderProfiles subdirectory. During the installation process you will be
asked about installing (updating) the HASP® HL device driver.

Also, the installer creates shortcuts to PCGrate-S(X) 6.2, Border Profile Editor
and RI Editor and places them on your desktop and into the main menu group named
I. I. G. Inc including the PCGrate* 6.2 group with the same and other shortcuts.
Checking/unchecking the appropriate check boxes during the installation, you can
customize this behavior. The information, which is necessary for running the
PCGrate-S(X) v.6.2 Main application, Solver application, editors and saved results,
are automatically stored in the registry.

NOTES
• If you work with Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista system but do not have administrator's
privileges then the installation may fail. You will be informed about this fact before
the installation starts.
• You can install all kinds of programs of the PCGrate-S(X) v.6.2 series together,
including PCGrate Demo v.6.2, PCGrate-S v.6.2 and PCGrate-SX v.6.2, on your computer.
However, it is strongly recommended not to run programs of different kinds
simultaneously (i.e. PCGrate Demo 6.2 Solver and the PCGrate-S(X) 6.2 Main application).
You can also have the earlier PCGrate®-S(X) v.6.1 series software of any kinds or
types installed on the same machine, but it is strongly recommended not to run
different versions simultaneously and not to mix files of different input/output
formats in the same directories. However, if you uninstall the PCGrate®-S(X) v.6.2
or higher you may need to reinstall the previous version to register program components.
• The type of installation of the installed PCGrate-S(X) v.6.2 (GUI, XML or Complete)
is determined by the HASP® key.
• The different types of the PCGrate-S(X) v.6.2 series software are installed using
the same installation package and the type of your installation is determined by the
HASP® HL key.

IMPORTANT NOTE
Please, keep in mind, that during the installation process all installable files and
subdirectories in the destination directory and the contents of the
“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\I.I.G. Inc.\PCGrate* 6.2” registry key will be updated,
but all other files may be saved.

The reinstallation process can be initiated running the same installation procedure
once more and clicking the Reinstall button. During the reinstallation, the executable
files PCGrate.exe, Solver.exe, BorderProfileEditor.exe and RIEditor.exe will be replaced
automatically together with the dynamic link libraries necessary for work. If you would
like to update your current PCGrate-S(X) v. 6.2 software you must run, at first, the
deinstallation process and, then, a new (updated) pcgrate.msi file from the directory
where pcgrate.msi was downloaded.

The deinstallation process can be initiated using two ways:
• Using the ”Add/Remove Programs” Windows tool.
• Running the same installation procedure once more and clicking the Remove button.
During the deinstallation process, the uninstalling program will ask you a question
about the types of files you want to delete: exports, results, projects, XML data from
the Console Solver folder, or/and other files. Other PCGrate-S(X) v.6.2 files will be
deleted by default, but you may alter this behavior using check-boxes.
